RADON TESTING

While there are many test kits and testing devices that provide somewhat accurate readings, based on our experience, we really mostly rely on these three methods.

RadonEye

Radon Eye is a dedicated radon detection device known for its high accuracy and fast response time.

Data is displayed directly on the device’s built-in screen and can also be synced via Bluetooth to a mobile app for real-time tracking, historical trends, and report generation. Compact and easy to use, Radon Eye is ideal for homeowners, inspectors, and professionals seeking reliable short-term or long-term radon monitoring.

Single-use tests

The AccuStar or PRO-LAB Radon Gas Test Kit (and similar) offers testing of the location of interest for radon gas presence. Once used according to the provided instructions, the test sample must be sent to the specified laboratory to obtain results. Pricing for the test results may be included in the kit cost or may need to be paid separately.

AirThings wave

Airthings Wave is a versatile, multi-parameter environmental monitoring device that includes radon detection as one of its core features.
Depending on the specific model, such as the Wave Plus or Wave Mini, it can also measure temperature, humidity, airborne chemicals (VOCs), carbon dioxide (CO₂), and air pressure. Data is displayed either directly on the device or synced via Bluetooth to a user-friendly mobile app.

While many alternative devices are available on the market, the options listed above have been personally tested and verified by our team. We’re also happy to offer complimentary radon testing, at no cost to you, if certain eligibility criteria are met.

RADON Levels Measurements

Starts from *FREE

Our service includes both long-term and short-term radon level measurements, presented clearly and comprehensively to our clients. Based on these results and the follow-up process, we will develop a tailored plan outlining the necessary steps and detailed pricing options. We understand that multiple viable solutions may exist, so we will take the time to present various alternatives, ensuring our clients can make informed decisions that best meet their specific needs.

RADON Mitigation System Installation

Manitoba has some of the highest radon levels in Canada, meaning homeowners here are especially vulnerable to this radioactive gas. That’s why it’s crucial to ensure your home is properly tested and equipped to minimize exposure and reduce health risks.

Our goal goes beyond meeting the minimum radon level guideline of 200Bq/m3. We strive to lower radon levels as much as possible, often achieving results below 10Bq/m3

Repair or Inspection of Existing System

Even well-functioning systems can occasionally fail or experience a drop in efficiency, leading to a false sense of security. In reality, these systems may not operate as intended. Our service provides a comprehensive evaluation of your radon system's current condition. We will conduct thorough checks and, if necessary, implement solutions to repair or future-proof your existing radon system, ensuring your safety and peace of mind.

GET AN ESTIMATE

Scope of expertise and Pricing policy.

At Radon Manitoba, our pricing is calculated using a transparent, matrix-based approach. Each quote reflects the real costs associated with your specific project, including:

  • Parts and materials required for the mitigation system

  • Applicable taxes, tariffs, and levies

  • Bulk purchasing and preferred vendor discounts

  • Site-specific details gathered during our property inspection

Once all relevant information is collected, we generate a tailored quote based on the current condition of your property. Each estimate is valid for 14 days from the date it’s presented.

We’re proud to say we are not the cheapest option on the market, and that’s by design. Our focus is on delivering exceptional quality and long-term results, not cutting corners. That’s why we limit ourselves to 2–4 projects per week, ensuring every client receives the time, attention, and care they deserve.

You’ll never see our team rushing through a job. Instead, we work mindfully and meticulously, using advanced tools and techniques to ensure every system performs at its best. Our average post-mitigation radon level is 11 Bq/m³, a testament to our commitment to excellence.

To achieve this, we’ve invested in specialized equipment, including:

  • Self-aligning coring systems for vibration-free drilling through up to 16” of reinforced concrete, stone, etc.

  • X-ray ground penetration radar for the precise placement of slab or basement coring

  • Dust extraction systems to maintain a clean, dust-free environment

  • Infrared and thermal cameras to assess insulation consistency

  • Automated and manual underground survey equipment to evaluate drain tiles, sump pumps, and more

  • Pressure monitors to ensure the mitigation system does not disrupt the property’s pressure balance

In addition, we collaborate with a trusted network of skilled tradespeople, professionals we’ve handpicked over years of successful partnerships.

And most importantly, we will never pressure you into a sale or recommend any product or service you don’t genuinely need.
Our reputation means more to us than chasing a dollar.

We are not the cheapest option on the market, and we don’t aim to be.
No business can truly claim to be saving lives while cutting corners or trying to save a few cents.
At Radon Manitoba, we believe that protecting your health demands precision, integrity, and a commitment to doing things right.

Radon level testing

$120 Radon Monitoring Service
Electronic monitoring equipment will be installed on-site to survey indoor air conditions over a period of approximately 20 days. After the monitoring period, a detailed breakdown of radon levels will be provided to the client.

If mitigation is required and the client accepts our quote, the $120 testing fee will be credited toward the installation cost.

Please note: destination fees are non-refundable.

Travel & Estimate Policy

All estimates provided within Winnipeg’s perimeter are $50 per consultation, regardless of the specific location.

For properties outside the perimeter, a travel fee of $1.50 per kilometre will apply on top of the calculated fee from the perimeter boundary to the destination.

Pricing Transparency

At Radon Manitoba, our average mitigation system cost ranges between $2,200 and $3,000, depending on the specific requirements of each property. Exceptions may apply based on project complexity, site conditions, and system design.

We value both your time and ours. If this pricing range does not align with your expectations or budget, we kindly ask that you refrain from initiating a consultation.

Our focus is on delivering high-quality, long-lasting radon reduction solutions, and we believe in being upfront about the investment required to do so.

Sharing a radon system with a sump pump - No, thanks!

If your radon mitigation contractor is advocating for the benefits of installing a radon system directly through the sump pump, you may want to share this information with them.

While it might seem convenient, this approach often compromises system performance, safety, and long-term reliability. A properly designed mitigation system should follow best practices and building code standards - not shortcuts.

⚠️ Why It’s Problematic ?

Radon in Canada:
Risks, Realities, and Responses

Radon exposure is a serious health concern in Canada, with approximately 1 in 5 homes exceeding safe levels—and awareness, testing, and mitigation efforts vary widely across provinces.

🧬 Radon in Canada: Historical Context

  • Early 20th century: Radon was identified as a radioactive gas emitted from radium, but its health risks weren’t fully understood.

  • 1970s–1980s: Initial surveys in Canada revealed that about 5% of homes had radon levels above the safety threshold.

  • 2007–2012: Health Canada launched the National Radon Program, testing thousands of homes and establishing a national baseline for radon exposure.

  • 2024: The Evict Radon National Study published the most comprehensive survey to date, mapping radon levels across all 121 Health Regions in Canada.

📊 Current Radon Statistics in Canada

  • 17.8% of homes in Canada have radon levels at or above 200 Bq/m³, the current Health Canada guideline.

  • 6.9% of Canadians live in homes with radon levels exceeding this threshold.

  • 13% of households that tested for radon in 2023 received results indicating a problem—up from 10% in 2021.

    🧠Awareness:

  • Only 58% of Canadian households had heard of radon in 2023.

  • Of those, 73% recognized it as a health hazard, and 66% could describe it correctly.

  • No region in Canada is radon-free, emphasizing the need for nationwide testing and mitigation.
